ROURKE, Bernice Elizabeth (née Boyce)
1939 – 2024
Bernice passed away unexpectedly on July 30th, 2024 at the age of 85, surrounded by family. Recently preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Howard, on May 8th, 2024.
So dearly loved by her children Nancy (late), Rick (Vicki), Wendy, Melany (Karl), grandchildren Alexis, Kristina (Sebastien), Tyler, Olivia, Lily, Gavin, and great-grandchildren Joon, Ekau, Eliblue and Louo. She left us on Howard’s birthday.
Predeceased by her dear sister Sheila and brother-in-law Graham, Howard’s sister Pearl and brother-in-law Sam, and brother Walter. Survived by Howard’s brothers Odlum (Janet) and David, and sister-in-law Janet.
Bernice was born in Rawdon and grew up on her parents’ dairy farm, and later at their beloved Milk Bar restaurant. She and Howard lived most of their married life in Montreal, where they raised their family. They spent their retirement years back in Rawdon.
Bernice was fiercely devoted to her family, and they loved and admired her in return. She was an adored aunt and friend.
Sharp and capable, Bernice was a force to be reckoned with. Her direct and honest manner, coupled with a heart of gold, endeared her to many. She touched people’s lives with her warmth and kindness. She had style and grace. She loved the sun and the beach, was a big hockey fan, and was active in church and community activities.
Bernice and Howard’s love and caring for each other was truly an inspiration. They were cool and fun, generous and welcoming, and at the centre of so many shared memories. Their journey together of overcoming loss and adversity, and nurturing love and family, is their legacy. They were a gift to us all.
What a blessed life they lived and shared. They will never be forgotten. May they rest in peace, together forever.
Until we meet again, Mom, may you walk hand in hand with Dad and Nancy.
“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep.”
Funeral arrangements entrusted to White & Sons Funeral Home (450) 834-4222 complexewhiteetfils.com. A memorial service for Bernice and Howard will be announced at a later date.

Having grown up with your parents and admiring them & their sense of humour Murray introduced them to me in our early courtship. I quickly discovered their warmth and camaraderie and understood why everyone had such respect and love for them. We will deeply miss Bernice & Howie and treasure the precious memories and know you are not alone in your grief . Wrapping you in love Murray & Linda

My condolences to all the family, I’ve had the pleasure to talk with her in the past year and get reacquainted with the old days; her father and his family were the neighbors of my grand mother, they owned a small restaurant and sold candies to our delight. I will always remember the sound of her soothing voice and her calmness, she was a great lady; Huguette Varin

I was stunned to find out that Bernice had passed away so shortly after Howie. It seems their love for each other was so strong they could not be parted, even in death. I have lovely memories of both your parents and am very sad to hear of their passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I am so very sorry for your loss. Reesa Rosenfeld
